Growing Up with a Big Dream

Hi there. My name is Bruno Fernandes. I am the creator of SharedEnglish. I grew up in a third world country in Africa. Opportunities were limited, but my dreams were not. From a young age, I had one burning desire: to speak English fluently, just like a native speaker.

I remember watching MTV and thinking, “I wish I could speak like them.” Just imagining it filled me with excitement. This wasn't just a passing thought—it became my obsession. I spent hours practicing, mimicking, and immersing myself in the language. I refused to give up, no matter how difficult it got.

Fast Forward to Today

If you had told me back then that one day I'd be living in the UK, I wouldn't have believed you. Yet, here I am. Not only do I live in an English-speaking country, but I also work as a software developer—a career I once thought was impossible for me.

Every day, I communicate with native speakers without hesitation. It's wild to think about how far I've come.

Why Learning English Changed My Life

Speaking English fluently has been the single most life-changing skill I've ever learned. It has opened doors I never even knew existed. Without it, many of the opportunities I've had—including my job, my travels, and my confidence in social situations—would have remained out of reach.

You Can Do It Too

I know learning English can feel overwhelming. Maybe you doubt yourself. Maybe you think fluency is out of reach. But let me tell you this: if you truly want it, nothing can stop you. The secret? Consistent practice, persistence, and a mindset that refuses to quit. Keep pushing. Keep practicing. Fluency is not a destination—it's a journey. And trust me, every step forward is worth it. You've got this!
